It all started when…

Moran with her two children Gil and Nevo

Moran with her two children Gil and Nevo

P3 Israel was born out of tragedy. Moran Alumi-Barnea living on Kibbutz Bet HaEmek in the Western Galilee of Israel, passed away in 2014 after a long and painful fight against cancer. She left behind two boys, Gil aged 3, Nevo aged 6 and a devoted husband, Yanai, who had nursed her throughout her illness.

When a call went out from Moran’s family for help creating a grove of fruit trees that would be a symbol of life and remembrance, Billy and Lea Ann Hirth, from Grace Community Church, decided that they wanted to be part of this mission.

After many years of involvement with Israel, they had a vision of creating an organization that would work with communities and organizations in Israel. They envisaged groups of Americans coming to Israel, working on community projects and developing strong, long term relationships with people and places. As close friends of Philip & Tsvia Barnea, Gil and Nevo’s grandparents, they organized a group of 12 loving and caring people from their church to come to Bet HaEmek and help develop Moran’s Memorial Grove to commemorate her spirit and her life. So far, three groups have come from Grace to work on Bet HaEmek and, in the process, have made great contributions to the community and built many strong friendships.

Life is a Journey

…loaded with mountains to climb and valleys to descend. Sometimes a smooth path in green pastures, sometimes difficult terrain and hard to tell where the path is. The P3 journey is the land of Israel and its dedication is to the people of Israel. Not leading or following, but walking side by side, sharing the journey with friends to watch tomorrows sunrise together with hope.

- Billy Hirth, P3 Israel Executive Director & Co-Founder
